Abbeyfield Australia housekeeper pay rates
Thursday, 9 September, 2010    Author: Chris Reside

Confirmation has been received from Fairwork Australia that Abbeyfield housekeepers will not receive an award pay increase in October 2009.

This stems from a determination of the Australia Fair Pay Commission not to increase Federal award rates in 2009 and means that the award rates applicable from October 2008 remain in force until the next increase occurs (potentially mid 2010 depending upon the eventual implementation of the Federal government’s award modernisation process).

The AFPC web site explains that the decision not to increase federal award rates in 2009 is intended to protect jobs and to support a stronger recovery in employment as the economy picks up.
